Premium Small Cars In India

India has a number of premium hatchbacks, and here we will talk about some of the most popular small cars in India that are offered in small packages but carry class and luxury along with it.
Hyundai i20: Hyundai recently bestowed the hatch with fluidic design, though the car already had contemporary looks but the fluidic design has enhanced the overall look of the hatch substantially. Hyundai i20 base model for the petrol version is available at Rs 4.73 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi), however the diesel version top end version is offered at Rs 7.67 lakh. The hatch is armed with a 1.2 litre Kappa petrol engine and 1.4 litre Gamma petrol engine with automatic transmission. This is the only hatch from Hyundai that is available in diesel version; the 1.4 litre CRDi diesel engine powers the diesel version.
Skoda Fabia: Skoda Fabia is also present in both petrol and diesel engine options. Recently the company launched Skoda Fabia Scout hatchback in India which is offered in two variants only. Fabia price starts at Rs 4.51 lakh (ex-0showroom price), and goes up to Rs 7.25 lakh. While the Scout version is available at Rs 6.86 ...
... lakh and 8.19 lakh (all prices mentioned ex-showroom price). The Socut version is priced a little too high as these days entry level sedans are available at this price.
Volkswagen Polo: The German car maker, Volkswagen brought Polo in India in 2010, the car has won many awards for its premium design and upmarket look. Also it is a strong competitor in the premium hatchback segment. Polo is offered in both petrol and diesel guise, Volkswagen Polo price begins at Rs 4.57 lakh (ex-showroom price) for the base model of petrol version and the top end version of the diesel version is priced at Rs 7.36 lakh. Polo is available in two petrol and one diesel engine options that include 1.2 litre, 1.6 litre petrol mills and a 1.2 litre diesel powertrain. Polo’s diesel version is frugal enough with a fuel economy of 15.5 kmpl in city and 21 kmpl on highway.
Maruti Swift: Ruling the premium hatchback segment for a long time, Swift has edgy looks and comes with the reliability of Maruti. New Swift launched last year the car comes with a price tag of Rs 4.44 lakh for the base petrol model while the top end variant of the popular diesel model is tagged at Rs 6.47 lakh (all prices mentioned are ex-showroom price). The car offers excellent fuel economy of 18.6 kmpl on highway while the diesel version delivers a whopping fuel efficiency of 22.9 kmpl.
Renault Pulse: Renault exhibited premium hatchback Pulse at the much talked about F1 race conducted at the Gautam Budh Circuit. The French auto cos launched Renault Pulse at the 11th Auto Expo held in Delhi in January this year. Earlier launched in just diesel version the company recently barged in the petrol trim of Pulse. Renault Pulse comes with a price tag of Rs 4.21 lakh for the petrol base model. On the other hand the diesel variant is priced at a staggering Rs 6.04 lakh (ex-showroom price), with the introduction of petrol version the car has now become more affordable.
