A qualified Public Relation professional must possess good writing and speaking skills. A Public Relation professional must be eloquent and expert speakers and beautiful writers incorporating mind storming words to invoke media and masses. Also a PR professional must be able to handle the press releases, pitching mail, teasing mails, business mail, etc… from time to time to deal with media and clients.
Traits that every PR Professional should have:
Below are 5 traits that every PR professional should have!
Be Tech-Savvy:
Use Social Media, Learn it, & Master it. A person interested in PR can use social media to their advantage not only to market, but also to show it off as a strength to their potential employers.
Be a Strong Communicator:
Be able to communicate clearly in writing and verbally. Also be a good listener. Must be able to handle any job in PR Communications fields, you have to always be listening to clients, your boss, co-workers, and many more.
Be an Anticipator:
One must be “an anticipator”. This means — must be flexible and creative. Things can change ...
... quickly, and you will have to think fast and use your creativity at all times, especially since nothing ever goes as planned. Always bring new ideas to the table, & always remember one thing that nothing is set in stone. If you want to be cliché… then you got go with the flow, to succeed.
Be Self-Disciplined:
In the PR world someone who is self-disciplined knows how to be timely, always meets deadlines, is goal oriented, and doesn’t sit around waiting for someone to tell them what to do. They are go-getters, this is very necessary to be a good PR professional.
Be Valuable to Relationships:
Networking is one of the most important aspects to find a job or internship in public relations. This includes personal talks too. Although the Internet and social media are great tools, face-to-face is always best. Shmooze —is the best way it’s always helpful to have someone you can contact for connections, which may help you land that internship or job.
Characteristics of the PR Stars:
At any rate, the public relations environment will require characteristics to be a PR professional. Here are six characteristics of the PR Stars,
*A PR person who approaches the market with good relationships, standpoint will win. They’ll understand that the market is a conversation, and that building and maintaining healthy relationships is the foundation of any strategy.
*Make decisions based on data, but not gut feelings.
*Learn to listen, listen more, and listen more carefully than any of your customer’s other predecessors did. Also constantly keep an ear to the ground, listening to every whisper of what the customers, media, influencers, analysts, employees, neighbors, and community are saying. Spend time on listening to increase your value among your customers.
*Design programs, strategies, and messages around the needs and perceptions of the target audience, and not around the product features, or the whims of a boss.
*Have to value truth and transparency above all; have to be frank & truthful to your customers always.
*Always stand up for ethics and values, don’t give them up of your own willing or wishes to be satisfied. Also if asked to lie, to obfuscate, or to conceal, simply quit it & maintain your dignity with whole hearted.

*Must possess high standard of integrity.
*Public relation professional should be good &learned eye readers.
*A public relation professional must be very influential, &also have to gain the people’s confidence easily.
*Must be very precise and expressive. Have to bring the important points in notice, very briefly and clearly both verbally and in written manner. Being a good communicator is a treasure for PR people.
*Should have good analytical skills.
* Must be attentive.
*Have to be creative.
* Should have entrepreneurial skills.
*Must be cultured and intelligent.
*Good expressional skills – talking, writing, presenting.
*Good memory, especially ability to remember lots of names.
*Hard-working and ambitious.
*Initiative.
*Innovative thinking.
*Imagination without boundaries.
*Have to posses listening skills & networking skills.
*Have to be bold enough, must be tensed will hosting functions & meetings.
*Leadership qualities are an added advantage for the PR people.
*Should have interview skills.
*Should have good presentation skills.
