If staying indoors is not possible then remove any item in the house that may harbor any of these allergens that trigger allergy reactions in you. This includes getting rid of upholstery, cleaning the carpet and items in the room regularly. Making sure the house, office or wherever you are, is well ventilated and as allergy free as possibly. If your job requires staying outdoors for long periods of time and you get reactions to allergies regularly, its important to wear protective clothing and face masks to keep off allergens such as insects, gases and odors.
For those who suffer from food allergy reactions should stay away from the foods that trigger the allergic reactions. If they go out in restaurants or buy food always ask if the food you are allergic to is included in the ingredients. If you buy any food stuffs in the store make sure to read through the food labels carefully to check if the allergens are there. Learn how to recognize the different names for the specific allergen as some maybe written in other terms which may not be obvious hence prevent the reactions to allergies.
Educate those around you who you come in contact with daily about your allergies so that they do not bring those items around the house. In case of children parents should inform the school, baby sitters any other person who comes into contact with the child about the items that elicit allergic reactions from the child. Your health care provider should also be aware of any items which cause allergy reactions so that if they prescribe any medication those allergens wont be present in them.
Those who suffer from reactions to allergies regularly should always carry medication with them wherever they go just to be on the safe side in case they come in contact with the allergens. An example is the non-drowsy antihistamine to treat the symptoms to the allergic reactions but still help you stay alert all day. If over the counter antihistamine does not treat the allergy reactions, then it is advisable to go see your health care provider immediately.
