This saves on cost and also precious time that doctors do not have for shopping for scrubs frequently. Though scrubs are now quite popular, it should be noted that not all medical staff wear them. Some doctors still prefer wearing their own clothes and a lab coat on top of their clothes while doing rounds to check on the progress of their patients. This is because it alerts their fellow staff of their duty status and also because most people are used to seeing doctors in lab coats. This gives them an identity.
