The career of a good hairdresser in the UK is dynamic and can be richly rewarding as well. If you have a good eye for

fashion and the way it changes all the time and if you have the patience and perseverance to cater to individual tastes, you

can be a successful hairdresser after attending hairdresser courses and due training. Hair has since always been associated

with good health and beauty. This factor alone ensures that a successful hairdresser will never remain idle. However, one

needs to undergo the right kind of courses first before in order to acquire the skills necessary for a hairdresser. There is

a variety of courses, some are available in part time as well so that you can also meet your other commitments. Full time

courses are also available. Essentially, you have to acquire a NVQ Certificate in Hairdressing/Barbering/Combined Hair Types

in three different levels of NVQ. While the Level 1 will qualify you as a hairdressing assistant, level 2 is meant for those

who aspire to be junior stylist. Level 3 is the final level that is meant for the senior stylist. ...

Hairdresser training can take between one and two years depending on whether you are studying part or full time. There are

no entry requirements and you can be of any age to take the NVQ qualification. The training will teach you several skills

such as cutting and styling, hair extensions and colouring. Undergoing one of the hairdressing apprenticeships is a good

option of becoming a hairdresser. You can train to become a hairdresser even as you work for an employer or in a hair salon.

During your apprenticeship phase you will learn the basics in haircutting and barbering and how to run a salon. You will also

be confident in styling, drying and colouring of hair. This period can be anything from one and five years. The biggest

advantage of an apprenticeship is that you will be paid while you learn the art of hairdressing. Finally, though hair and

beauty are related businesses, the career opportunities are different. You may therefore need to consider your option among

the various Hair &

Beauty Courses before you take your pick depending on what you wish to achieve in life.
