Bangalore, now known as Bengaluru, is the capital city of Karnataka. The many sobriquets, Garden City of India and Pensioner's Paradise are no longer valid for the greatest cosmopolitan city in South India, Bangalore, which is now the number one city in the IT sector, more aptly titled the Silicon Valley of India. Bangalore has been ranked as the most developed city of India and one of the fastest growing urban areas in the world.

The name Bende Kaalu Ooru, which means the Land of Boiled Beans was coined by the King Veera Ballala who was offered a bowl of boiled beans by an old lady when he got lost wandering in the forest. Benda Kaalu Uru gradually changed into Bangalore.

Both government and private bus services are available from Bangalore to many major cities in the country.
