Hyundai I20 Review, An Insight Into The Revamped Version

Hyundai launched Getz with the aim of denting Maruti Swift’s sales, but it failed to accomplish its objective. The company rendered the facelift version of Getz to lure the customers but still it could not create any magic. The eventually was phased out and then Hyundai brought Hyundai i20 hatchback in the premium small car segment. Hyundai i20 offered some of the innovative features which were not even offered by the sedans when the car was launched in India. Some time back the company gave a new look to the hatchback, the new avatar of Hyundai i20 is called as Hyundai i20 iGen.
Hyundai cars have been bestowed with the fluidic design and recently the company also rendered new i20 with fluidic design. Though Hyundai i20 already flaunted modish looks, but the new fluidic design has further added to the premium factor of the car. The front look of the car has been revamped completely owing to the new head lamps, lower grille and the air dam area. At the rear older tail lights have been replaced by a new set of head lights along with new bumper.

... are impressive, the car has been bestowed with a host new and innovative features which are absent even in the higher segment cars. Features like steering mounted audio controls, DIN stereo system and AUX-IN USB along with Bluetooth, reverse parking sensors, climate control etc are affixed in the car. Hyundai i20 has ample of space especially in comparison to Maruti Swift hatchback. The boot also has aplenty space to store luggage of a family of four. The car is offered in both petrol and diesel versions, in total there are ten trim levels, including one model with sunroof which is offered on the Hyundai i20 petrol Asta. Hyundai’s i20 hatchback comes with three engine options these are, 1.2 litre Kappa petrol engine, 1.4 litre CRDi diesel engine and 1.4 Gamma petrol engine with automatic transmission. The 1.2 litre kappa petrol engine generates 84Ps of power at 5200 rpm and 114Nm torque at 4000rpm, while the 1.4 litre CRDi diesel engine pumps out 90Ps of power at 4000rpm with a peak torque of 220 Nm between 1500-2750 rpm. And the 1.4 Gamma petrol engine churns out 100Ps of power at 5500rpm and 136Nm of torque at 4200rpm.
Hyundai i20 price begins at Rs 4.73 lakhs for the petrol base variant and the top end diesel variant comes with a price tag of Rs7.67 lakhs (all prices mentioned ex-showroom prices).
As far as the fuel economy is concerned, the petrol variant with manual transmission offers 14kmpl of mileage, while the petrol trim with automatic transmission delivers a fuel efficiency of 12.5kmpl and last but not the least, diesel version of i20 runs 17kmpl.
Hyundai i20 is a premium hatchback that gives a stiff competition to Maruti Swift, Skoda Fabia, Renault Pulse and Volkswagen Polo. All these cars are priced in the same range, Renault’s Pulse has also been launched in petrol version recently. Hyundai i20 is a successful hatchback from the South Korean auto cos and with the introduction of the new version the company expects to continue its winning streak in the Indian car souk.
