Top Skin Lightening Ingredients
People who want to lighten their skin are in the constant lookout for the perfect skin lighteningingredient. However, the ‘best’ or ‘perfect’ skin lightening product is not something that you would immediately find in the market. Sometimes, the perfect skin lightening products are those that combine various active ingredients. Here are some of these active ingredients.
The first ingredient is kojic acid which is derived from rice fermentation. Kojic acid has the capability of lightening the skin through melanin inhibition. Melanin is the pigment that gives color to our skin which when excessively produced, can lead to skin darkening. Kojic acid is actually one of the skin lightening products staple where you will find 3 out of 10 skin lightening products that contain this ingredient.
The second ingredient is arbutin which could be either alpha or beta. Derived from the leaves of bearberry, arbutin is considered to be very effective in lightening the skin by working similar to kojic acid. Nevertheless, alpha arbutin is stronger than beta arbutin though both can ...
... restrict the amount of melanin produced. If you have sensitive skin, you have to deal with using the cream that contain either alpha or beta arbutin by taking the necessary precautionary measures.
The third ingredient is Vitamin A. Vitamin A derivatives are commonly used in skin lightening products. Vitamin A boosts skin renewal by increasing the turnover rate of the skin. In the process, healthier, fresher and blemish-free skin will be revealed eventually.
The fourth ingredient is licorice extract. Like any other ingredient, licorice extract can inhibit the production of melanin. Licorice extract has anti-inflammatory properties. It is very effective in fading tanned skin.
The fifth ingredient is Vitamin B3. This vitamin has anti-inflammatory as well as anti-oxidant properties. An effective skin lightener, Vitamin B3 also inhibits the production of melanin. This vitamin is found not just on skin lightening products but also in sun blocks. There are also Vitamin B3 liquid capsule with which contents are directly applied onto the skin.
The sixth ingredient is Vitamin C. Vitamin C works by suppressing skin pigment production. Vitamin C derivatives like magnesium ascorbyl phosphate can be also found in skin lightening products. Further, this vitamin can protect our skin from harmful UV rays.
Nevertheless, these active ingredients do not usually work in isolation. When they work together, their effects are even better.
