Boiler Heating Systems

A boiler heating system is a system that heats and circulates water, in the process distributing heat in homes and buildings with the use of a boiler. The system comprises a boiler, a pump and baseboards that are connected by water piping. The water that is heated by a boiler to a temperature ranging from 120 degrees to 210 degrees Farenheit is pumped through pipings in the baseboards that are found either in the floor or outside the perimeters of houses that have been made to act as curtains of warmth.
Types of Boilers
A wide variety of boiler heating systems in terms of style, model, size, and capacity, are available in the market to meet the specific heating needs of homes, offices, schools and other buildings. Industrial boilers are big is size, and meant for high capacity and high performance compared to the boilers used in homes. A lot of homes in the US use residential boilers. The average life span of a boiler is 30 to 40 years.
Here are the different types of boilers:
Conventional boilers. A combustion chamber, ...
... which is surrounded by a water jacket, is used to burn fuel. The heat produced in turn heats the water that is circulated around the heating system. However, not all of the heat is used to heat the water, as most of it gets lost in the surrounding air and escapes out of the flue.
Condensing boilers. They have been designed as improvements to the conventional boilers. More heat is extracted from condensing boilers than from conventional boilers, using the same amount of fuel. Condensing boilers are highly efficient, with almost no heat escaping out of the flue, and are environmentally friendly. They work only in a condensing mode, with less than half of their radiators fitted with thermostatic radiator valves. They are quite expensive and their lifespan is shorter.
Combination boilers. They provide centralized heating and hot water, but this is not done at the same time. Their priority is to heat the water. When hot water is used, the radiators do not produce heat to warm the homes. They can only produce hot water to taps one at a time, as they have a low water rate.
Combination boilers are the most ideal boiler heating systems in homes where there is less demand for hot water. They take a little space, are easy to install, and cheaper to run. Repair is however quite expensive. It is more economic to replace them than repair them after 5 years, as most combination boilers have been designed to be replaced after 5 years.
