Microwave ovens are an unconventional cooking medium that require a single bowl to cook, reheat and serve. Nothing could be simpler than cooking in microwave. The use of radio waves to heat up food through the friction between the foods molecules, hastens the cooking process with no difference in taste from the meal prepared after standing for hours in front of the cooking range.

The invention of the microwave oven is the greatest invention in cooking as it saves time for the mothers who do not have the luxury of time to prepare hot food for their families. Since the microwave uses a different cooking concept, it involves a different set of containers instead of the traditional pots and pans made out of metals. Microwave ovens require special accessories because they are supposed to heat only the food and not the cookware. And you must also make sure that the container is heat resistant as it can either break or crack in the microwave if subjected to higher levels of heat.

If you are familiar with your microwave, you have probably noticed the absence of plastic in any area that comes into contact with the microwave ...
... rays. Traditionally, the best microwaveable cookware is made of glasses. The glass cookware designed for this purpose is thick, sturdy and heat - resistant, anything you can use in an oven can most certainly be used in a microwave. The most popular forms of microwaveable glassware are heat-resistant glass, ceramic glass etc.

The reasons for using microwave safe glass when cooking in a microwave oven are many. Being the safest method of cooking, glass does not react with the food and alter it. In addition to this the wave or rays can easily pass through glassware which allows for food to be cooked or heated properly.

Some people commit the mistake of using ordinary plastics or porcelain plates in their microwaves. While such will not automatically burn the food or damage the microwave oven, it can be unhealthy for the person who heats the food.

Finding microwave safe glassware is easy. There are many styles and options available to you, so should be able to find glassware that offers exactly what you are looking for without any difficulty. There are many companies who manufacture glassware designed especially for microwave use. Many of them provide food serving dishes also, which can be used to store food in the refrigerator.
