Capital of Sabah, the city of Kota Kinabalu is one of the most fantastic cities you would have ever been to. It is a modern city with a warm hospitality found quite rarely in many other parts of the world. In close proximity you would find beautiful sandy beaches, paradise islands, tropical rain forests and virgin coral reefs and you would find many places to visit in kota kinabalu. Plus the location of the city is quite convenient with the airport being quite close to most hotels in town. The famous mountain Mount Kinabalu is only at an hour and half's drive. There are world class championship golf courses as well as sailing marina within reasonable distance. You would also find various holiday resorts as well as budget and luxury hotels in the town. The Tunku Abdul Rahman Marine Park is one such group of islands that you may like to visit once you are in Kota Kinabalu. The marine park consists of Pulau Manukan, Pulau Mamutik, Pulau Gaya, Pulau Sulug and Pulau Sapi. The place offers the perfect setting for you to just spend a day snorkelling, trekking or just chilling out in any of the islands. Alternatively, you may like to spend your day at the Gayana Island Resort (a privately run luxurious island resort), which is located at Pulau Gaya.

Filipino Market/ Handicraft Market: This market is a popular tourist destination in KK and is open every day from early morning until late afternoon. If you wish to buy things such as handicrafts, souvenirs or cultured pearls, you would like this place. You may also like to check out the Filipino Night Market that starts from 6 pm just behind the handicrafts stores and get a taste of the local delicacies.

If you are a lover of architecture and history, you may like to visit Kota Bharu, which is the capital of the state of Kelantan. The city is close to the Thai border and among the various places to visit in kota bharu figure different mosques, museums and royal buildings. The city offers many museums near Padang Merdeka. Many of these museums were built in a unique architecture that is well worth seeing. Some of the museums that you may like to visit here are Muzium Negeri Kelantan (Kelantan State Museum), Muzium Kraftangan (Handicrafts Museum), Memorial Peperangan Dunia Ke II (World War II Memorial), Muzium D'Raja (Royal Museum), Muzium Islam (Museum of Islam) and Muzium Adat Istiadat DiRaja Kelantan (Museum of Royal Kelantanese Traditions).

You can also visit a number of temples in the nearby towns. Some of these prominent temples are: Wat Pothivihan (huge reclining Buddha) near Tumpat, Wat Chonprachumthat at Kg. Dalam, Wat Mai Suwan Khiri (dragon Boat & standing Buddha), Wat Machimarran Varran (sitting Buddha), and Wat Serova Buddhist Temples (Goddess of Mercy - Kuan Yin). You may also be interested in visiting the 100 foot high standing Buddha at Wat Phothikyan at Bachok and the Kuan Yin temple facing the South China Sea.
