You don't want to end up in an alcohol treatment center. They have good intentions - the orderlies are all polite and charming - but really, it's little better than a prison. You get to see them as wardens or orderlies in a loony bin. They watch your every move, and check on you when they think you are going wrong. Not very pleasant, right? But you'd bet it's a lot better than waking up in the gutters after a night's spell of drunken stupor.

Getting to talk about the problems you have with the bottle is very helpful, but mostly when you are not saying it to a half filled bottle that you are consuming. Getting to listen to others share similar experiences helps you realize that you are not alone in your struggle. The way to cure is clearer from then on.

Group therapy is a common practice in alcohol treatment centers. It helps you to confront your problems square and fair, while learning that other also have similar problems. You all get the chance to speak, and no one laughs at anyone else. Why would they? They would not be in there themselves if everything was so peachy, anyway.

Anything short of this can only result in a relapse that could send you back to rehab, ruining all the hard work they did the first time. Certainly this is not something you want to be looking forward to.

Alcoholism refers to any condition which causes you to consume any form of alcohol to excess. There is no need to get all flamboyant about a complex definition. Once you're hooked, you're hooked and the best way out is through rehab. Or can you think of another?

Alcohol treatment centers are often located in open regions where there is a wide expanse of land for green fields to give an illusion of peace and serenity. In addition there are usually high walls that are meant equally to detract trespassers and keep patients inside. But most importantly, on the rehab facility, you'd never find any liquor.

There have been a few recorded deaths in alcohol treatment facilities due to the direct effects of withdrawal from the substance. This has caused such homes to exercise more caution in attending to their patients. Although it is advised that the best way to quit is to do it suddenly and totally, such incidences challenge this theory.
