Ford Fiesta At Versus Honda City At

Automatic cars being offered by the car makers is slowly becoming a fashion. With handful of car majors in the sedan segment offering their sedans in automatic version has become the latest trend in the Indian car market. Here we are going to discuss about few of the sedans in the C segment which come with automatic transmission. Some of the famous models that come with automatic transmission are, Hyundai Verna, Honda City, Skoda Rapid, Volkswagen Vento and Ford Fiesta. One more interesting fact about these cars is that these are powered with petrol engines, which at present is an expensive deal, looking at the ever increasing petrol prices in the country.
Let’s pick two of the swankiest and segment leading petrol sedans available with automatic transmission, Honda City and Ford Fiesta. Ford Fiesta automatic sedan is priced competitively and hence has gained popularity especially after the company cut Ford Fiesta prices to sustain competition. Usually dual clutch is offered in the premium cars which have now found its way in the C segment sedan cars too. ...
... Ford Europe in alliance with technical partners Getrag manufactures the six-speed automatic transmission which Ford calls as PowerShift at Mexico. The automatic transmissions are imported to various other countries including Indian where they are fitted into the sedan.
The PowerShift was crafted basically as a part of Ford’s undertaking that helps in decreasing fuel consumption by 30% by the year 2020. As per Ford by next year, all of its cars will be upgraded to the 6-speed transmissions. Ford Fiesta’s automatic transmission is mated to a 1.5 litre petrol engine. The automatic transmission is offered on the Ford Fiesta Titanium Plus variant and Ford Fiesta Style variant that is priced at Rs 10,05,960 (ex-showroom price) and Rs 9.32,169 respectively. The automatic version delivers a mileage of 13.5 kmpl on city roads and 16.45 on highways.
On the other hand the Honda City AT is offered on the Honda City 1.5 V variant. The Honda City AT variant is priced at Rs 10.46 lakh 9ex-showroom price). The AT version of Honda City also flaunts sunroof that renders it a more premium look. The sunroof was absent in the predecessor, however the sunroof has been intromitted in the new generation Honda City sedan. Honda City AT is also offered without sunroof which is priced at Rs 9.78 lakh (ex-showroom price). Both the variants are harmonized to a five speed automatic transmission. The Honda City AT is powered with a 1.5 litre SOHC, i-VTEC engine. The 1497cc petrol mill engenders 118PS of power at 6600rpm and 146Nm of torque.
Both the sedan cars are segment leaders and are appreciated a lot by the Indian customers. Ford launched the facelift version of Fiesta last year. The car now comes with more appealing looks and an array of new and innovative features. Ford Fiesta was not selling in good numbers earlier because it was too pricey. The American car maker gradually has to slash Ford Fiesta prices to lure the customers. To Ford’s relief, the trick worked and Ford Fiesta is now garnering good sales.
