The Boegoeberg trail is a picturesque route that features panoramic views of the surrounding ocean and the Cedarberg Mountains, set high in the ‘Engelsman-se-berg' on the Lambertshoek Farm. For the full experience of both nature and wildlife, the Karoo National Park can't be beat. Two different trails are available for the avid 4x4 explorer and they all boast an eye-catching mix of local flora, the Big Five and birds of every colour. The first trail is a fairly short at 20km, only taking 2 to 3 hours at maximum. For the day to overnight trail though, the route is approximately 85km long and takes upwards of 8 to 10 hours to complete. Nevertheless, both trails offer a fantastic game opportunity to view the local wildlife South Africa is famous for. The dense vegetation in the Karoo Park provides shelter for a diversity of species such as kudu, duiker and the aardvark who make their burrows in river banks. Many species of bird are also provided natural protection due to this abundant undergrowth. There is opportunity even to see the great Black Rhino, one of the rarest animals in the park.
