After the earthquake, the statue started producing strange musical sound during sunrise. Greek and Roman tourists gave it the name of Memnon because of this phenomenon. Another monument that must be visited while enjoying cheap Luxor holidays is Deir el-Medina Workmen’s Village. Deir el-Medina is an Arabic word which literally means Monastery of the Town. During ancient times, this village was known as Set Ma’at or the Palace of Truth. Bricks that were used to build the original enclosure have a stamp of Tuthmose I. While walking around, you would come across 45mX40m rectangular platform with height of 3.75 meters. In the northwest of the platform, you would come across a row of tree-pits. While exploring the ruined houses, you would several elements that belong to Amenhotep III and Amarna-style villas at Akhetaten.
