Who isn’t curious about the English streets, landscapes and people who haven’t dreamt of strolling through the eventful history that is silently and beautifully borne by the Victorian architecture and museums? Who wouldn’t want to experience the diverse music, art and the popular British humor for themselves? For whom, the above is true are or will be en route for an English voyage. With which comes a dilemma as to what places have to be covered.

It’s best to begin with the capital city. London weather in May can be erratic as the city is coming out of a lovely spring and entering a summer. With much more outdoor events on the schedule, the historical Tower of London, Westminster Abbey, Hampton court, the Buckingham Palace, Madame Tussauds, the British Museum are a few must-see spots along with the famous Ronnie Scotts’ for great live music acts.

Dotting on westwards is the provincial town of Salisbury with architectural wonders from almost all periods, be it the Georgian mansions or Victorian villas. One wouldn’t dare miss England’s tallest central spire of the majestic Salisbury Cathedral. Venturing far south-west passing St. Ives into the Celtic sea are Isles of Scilly painted with splendid beaches and a chilled out lifestyle.

A great idea would be to keep oneself up-to-date with accurate weather forecast. The country has so much to offer to an exploring mind that last-minute change in plans due to weather wouldn’t really be a disappointment but would definitely keep one on schedule.

Staffordshire, northwest from London present “The Stones operates on High Street” market of Newcastle along with a plethora of great bars to pick from. Here’s a tip – antiques market on Tuesdays! Close by is the pottery giant Stoke-on-Trent, a unique city actually made up of six towns, with its popular Alton Towers resort. Proceeding further north-west is Liverpool – the home of Liverpool FC. With an exquisite skyline, the city’s a winner for the culture enthusiasts with its top notch museums and art galleries. Hopping north-east from there, we bump into Leeds – the financial hub second only to London and perfect to go on a crazy retail spree.

Again keeping abreast with weather conditions especially Leeds weather trends may come handy to tour the city and its neighbours comfortably for example, York. A stark contrast with Leeds, its 13th century walls, gothic cathedrals, rich heritage and peaceful landscapes are evocative about the age before machines. Making a rapid descent south lands us in the scholarly Cambridge with its numerous cyclists and beautiful narrow streets full of historic pubs and tradition left for the curious to discover.

There’s so much more that the above trip becomes only a mere beginning of a possible series of trips, with every city as one episode of the Great English Voyage.
