How The Proven Results Of Humus Soil Can Boost Your Crop Yield

You are always looking for ways to increase your crop yield and be more profitable. That is one of the challenges facing every farmer. Becoming more profitable means you need to do things differently. After all, you are already working hard. If you want to make more money (and who doesn’t), you need to find something new but proven to bring you results.
At Midwest Bio Systems, we help farmers make more money by utilizing humus technology. We know that humus helps produce larger harvests and therefore makes you more profitable. But we bet you’re curious about exactly how much more profit you can expect using humus in your soil… Well we conducted a study to determine the dollars-and-cents benefits of using humus. Here are the details of that study, and what we found. I promise you will be amazed!
We did a 30-month study on how to improve growing media, in conjunction with the University of Georgia. We used bell pepper plants in our study. Our control plants were grown in 100% potting soil, and our test plants were grown in 80% potting soil amended with 20% humus soil.
Overall, our humus amended soil ...
... yielded plants with increased total height, increased stem diameter, and increased leaf diameter, as well as increased stem and leaf dry weights. And the increase in plant size started showing up right away. After only 15 days, the control plants gown in potting soil had an average height of 1.25", while the test plants grown in 20% humus had an average height of 1.80". So in just 2 weeks the plants grown in humus were already 40% taller than the control plants.
After 3 months we could measure the number of peppers per plant. Our control plants averaged 5.46 peppers/plant, while the test plants in humus soil averaged 12.8 peppers/plant – that’s 133% more harvestable yield per plant!
And after 4 harvests of these plants, the combined yield of the control plants was 381 boxes/acre, while the test plants yielded 457 boxes/acre. That’s 76 more boxes of peppers per acre, which is $1000-$1500 more in your pocket per acre!
How big is your farm? Do the math for your actual expected increased profit!
And what did it cost to amend the soil with humus? Just 1¢ per plant, or about $10 per acre. Humus soil can help you make more money – and now you can estimate how much.
We want to help you make that possible, so be sure to check out our upcoming telephone seminars and courses at www.midwestbiosystems.com. It’s a great way to get to know us and learn more about how humus can help you make more money. When you are ready to get started, give us a call, or send us an email.
