A Great Weekend At Palma

Palma is a favorite European holiday destination especially for the weekend. It is located in Mallorca with plenty of offerings as a holiday destination as well as the capital. Its superb Mediterranean location draws many tourists every year without fail. There is so much rich historic presence at Palma that blends in so well with the modern amenities offered such as first class shopping opportunities, a wide range of bars, pubs and restaurants. HistoryPalma offers a great history lesson with the magnificent La Seu at the sea front. This Gothic cathedral is a historical spot of Palma that cannot be missed. It was built in 1306 but only completed 300 years later.

This huge edifice has a remodeled interior 10 decades ago by Antoni Gaudi, a famous architect. The cathedral sports an altar canopy made of wood and cardboard which was supposed to be a temporary piece but was left as is since. Activities

Palma Bay offers superb vistas of the promenade at the sea front. It offers a vibrant nightlife with plenty of nightclubs where a lot of dancing and music goes on throughout the night till the early hours. The nearby port is a great spot for the many yachts, boats and ships docking there alongside giant cruise liners and fishing trawlers. The classy Portitxol marina has many quaint townhouses with a good selection of cafes and fish restaurants that can whet one’s appetite during lunchtime.

Attractions

West of Palma is 14th century Bellver Castle that sports a magnificent structure built by King Jaume II to function as his royal palace and jail. But now it is a history museum of the city. Museu de Mallorca is another museum with a large collection of town history that includes ancient skeletons, Roman relics, Moorish artifacts and Middle Ages oil paintings. The Spanish Contemporary Musuem houses modern pieces by Dali, Picasso, Matisse and Miro. There are enough attractions to enlighten any visitor on the history of villa spanien even for the weekend which makes this place a great vacation choice.
