Is Siri The Game Changer?
Have you ever had a relationship with technology? Me neither, but the Apple starts to cross that boundary with its newest application called Siri. An application that tries to listen to your spoken commands and do what you ask. It is basically an application that translates your speech into commands to perform an operation. Siri is sassy and intelligent application that can control most of other services and apps in iPhone 4S.
On the business front, Siri is projected to fundamentally alter people's relationship with computer devices. It is marketed as a personal assistant that offers better ease in doing quick mobile searches while allowing for administrative tasks to be completed on the run. Over the years, mobile phones are advancing with new business-friendly applications and features mushrooming one after another practically within short periods of time.
User can use Siri for tasks like -to send and reply text messages, to check weather, to check traffic and directions, to set reminder and alarm, to search restaurants and their reviews to read out message, to place calls and to play music. Siri is also ...
... expected to impact the way business website managers and owners market their products and services.
Siri offers a way through which businesses are able to gather insights on customer preferences. Providers are able to assess how they can align their business and software strategies to improve visibility to consumers and understand better their target market's demographics.
Siri removes the need for search engine. Search engines are basically just big databases, they didn't invent the internet. It just catalogues it and makes it easier to find what we are looking for. But how they can decide what is best for us? Search engines won't say why they think one website is better than another.
Their ranking algorithms are best kept secret. Is that fair? Should perfectly viable businesses be unable to trade with a domain name that is perfect for them because of speculative purchasing of tens of thousands of domain names? Is it fair that an older business with deeper pockets can command the high ground and deny new energy to compete on a level playing field? Search engines would say yes but siri will say no.
So imagine a system which sidesteps search engines and finds what you need based on what other people thought was good. Imagine a system which listens passively to your conversations, picks up hints from your conversation and offers helpful ideas. The real artificial intelligent has still not been invented. But Siri may be one step towards that. With good American English accent, Siri can do things beyond expectations.
