Hot chocolate has existed for many centuries already, thus it has a very long and rich history. The history of hot chocolate takes its start from an Aztec times when the drink called xocoatl existed. Later this drink was also introduced to the Europeans by man named Hernan Cortez. At first, this drink wasn’t sweet, so the Spaniards added some sweetness to the drink. These people experienced some difficulties pronouncing word “xocoatl” and changed the drink’s name to “chocolat”. In the English language this word was later changed into “chocolate”. As far as it is known, this drink was drank cold at first, however, it’s unknown who decided to warm the drink up. As this drink was them warmed up, it got name “hot chocolate”.

Nowadays, you can hardly find a person who would refuse to drink a cup of hot chocolate on a frosty winter day. In fact, nothing can warm you up better then a cup of fragrant hot chocolate. The hot chocolate recipes we’re going to share with you, may be somewhat familiar to you. Some of the following recipes may however surprise and even impress you, for instance, hot chocolate with chili pepper. But this recipe isn’t that dreadful many people may think, on the contrary trying it you will want to cook it again. So, let’s get started.

Further there’s an Aztec Chili Hot Chocolate Recipe represented by a spicy hot chocolate with the addition of chili peppers.

You’ll need the following ingredients:

1 2/3 cups milk
1 red chili pepper, seeds removed, split
1/2 vanilla bean, split length wise
1 1/2 oz bittersweet chocolate
1 cinnamon stick, around 3-4"

Preparation:

Boil milk in a saucepan, add vanilla bean to it, cinnamon and chili peppers. Simmer this substance for about a minute. Then add grated chocolate to this mass and go on simmering it until chocolate melts down. Remove the saucepan from heat and let it 'steep' for about ten minutes. Further strain out the spices and hot chocolate may be served. This hot chocolate is enough for two persons.

The next is Grand Marnier Hot Chocolate Recipe

You’ll need the following ingredients:

1 cup half n' half
2 cups milk
6 oz bittersweet chocolate, finely chopped
1/2 cup orange juice
1/3 cup Grand Marnier

Preparation:

Take a mixing bowl, pour half and half milk and orange juice into it and heat until it boils. Then add about 2/3 cup of hot milk to the chocolate, whip this mass slightly. Pour the rest of the milk and mix the mass again. Then this mixture should simmer for about two minutes.

Add Grand Marnier to the hot chocolate and serve.

The next is Moscow Hot Chocolate Recipe. This hot chocolate is very easy to prepare and it will warm you up any minute of the cold day.

You’ll need the following ingredients:

fluid ounce vanilla flavored vodka
3/4 fluid ounce amaretto liqueur
1 tablespoon instant hot chocolate mix
4 fluid ounces hot milk

Preparation:

Prepare a coffee mug, pour the vanilla vodka into it, add amaretto and the hot chocolate mix. Add the hot milk and mix everything properly.
