Menopause – End Of The Fertile Phase In Women
Going through many stages of life with physical and emotional changes women reach the phase of menopause. This phase is as important to women as any other phase of life. Care has to be taken during this phase of life as women transform from the phase of fertility to infertility which involves changes physically, emotionally and also in their life style.
What is menopause? When do women enter this phase?
Menopause is a naturally occurring phase in a women’s life when her menstruation cycle completely stops and the fertile phase of her life ends. This is the stage when a woman enters the non-reproductive stage from the reproductive stage due to the reduction in female hormonal production in the ovaries.
Though there is no fixed period for the onset of menopause, it usually occurs in late 40s or early 50s. Reaching the stage of menopause varies from individual to individual with some having a very smooth transition while for some may not.
In some cases where uterus has been removed for some medical reasons, the person is not said to have reached menopause as long as the ovaries are producing eggs. ...
... However if both the ovaries have to be removed for any reason before reaching menopause then, the woman is said to have surgically induced menopause.
Symptoms of Menopause
During this transition period women go through changes due to changes in hormonal level which may vary from person to person and thus the indications also vary. They show indications like:
Hot flashes and night sweats
Irregular vaginal bleeding
Vaginal dryness and itching
Fatigue, migraine and rapid heartbeat
Urinary incontinence
Recurrent Cystitis
Back pain / Joint Pain
Mood Swings
Depression
Once a woman reaches menopause, she may develop some problems due to the reduction in estrogen hormone and this may lead to osteoporosis, the risk in developing cardio vascular problems increases.
