Face Makeup
We can't all have skin like Julia Roberts. Like it or not, even with the best skin-care available, you can only to so much to improve the skin you inherited from your parents. But that doesn't mean you have to walk around feeling pasty or drab. With a little bit of makeup, properly used, you can handily cover up blemishes, even out your skin tone, and feel good about your face. So make the best of what you've got with these simple steps and products.
First, a good foundation for your face is the foundation of your look. Foundation, or base makeup, is the first step towards a beautiful, clear look. They come in many different finishes, so pick your foundation according to your desired outcome, whether you want to have a light sheen or glow, or a powdered, matt finish. And nothing undermines a good foundation like a bad tone match. Make sure that you match your foundation exactly to your face's skin tone to avoid a painted, sloppy look. Testing a new foundation on the back of your hand is usually a good indication of a match, but you may need more than one tone for different seasons.
Rub your foundation evenly across ...
... your whole face to help conceal blemishes and give your face a consistent color. Make sure to rub it in thoroughly at your face's edge, so that you don't have a visible line along your jaw and hairline where your makeup ends. If you have blemishes that are still visible, you may want to use a skin-toned concealer to cover them. Dab a small amount on the area in need, and then blend it in with the surrounding foundation. Those who desire a mat finish may want to consider a powder, both to prevent shine and to help set the underlying foundation. If not, you will still probably want to use blush, to restore some color to your face. When lightly applied to the cheekbones with a blush brush, with the lightest coloring to your chin, the top of your nose and your forehead, a little blush helps give you a natural healthy look.
As with the foundation, make sure you chose a color that matches your overall complexion. Choosing a color that doesn't fit with your overall look can give you a toy-like look, just like an unblended foundation border, so chose your colors and blend them with care.
And finally, make sure you always completely remove your makeup before bed. Your skin will look better from the start, and will look that much better with your makeup on.
