At&t Digital Life, A Platform For Remote Home Monitoring
Householders in the Atlanta metropolis can just press a key on their smartphone or tap the screen of their iPad to save energy, check out the well-being of their loved ones or watch their Atlanta Home Security. A new platform, which was unveiled by AT&T, has lately made it practical for home security service suppliers to offer these kinds of home security and automation services. This home automation solution aims at both Atlanta home safety and all around United States and the global market as well.
In early 2012, AT&T Digital Life was announced as an IP-based remote home monitoring and automation platform to provide Atlanta security service companies and companies around the world with the abilities to offer their clients home security and automation services in a customizable and web-based method. Controlled by a web-based user interface, this platform will enable suppliers to offer their clients home alarm monitoring equipments like wireless detectors and cameras with wireless communication features that can communicate with a monitoring center inside the home. ...
... The Digital Life platform features hardware certification, application hosting, technical and integration support and licensed software. Providing a customizable experience, the platform will enable suppliers to present a unique illustrative user interface and expand branding to equipments. Suppliers are able to tailor the solutions for particular industry and applications, i.e. consumer products, home alarm, healthcare, etc., dependent on their own requirements and business types.
Digital Life is based on technology from Xanboo which was founded in 1999 as one of the original cloud-based home automation companies and was later acquired by AT&T in 2010. In 2006, AT&T had supplied its Atlanta customers with a Xanboo-based service which was short-lived. Not long ago, AT&T showed its Digital Life platform abilities at the GSMA Connected House at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain from Feb 27 to Mar 1, 2012. AT&T Digital Life provides lower entry costs into a market to Atlanta and international home automation suppliers. The low cost can potentially create new revenue streams and decrease churn for the suppliers. Home security service suppliers build their own interfaces and applications with a software developer’s kit (SDK) that covers monitoring cameras and home security sensors at the price of $9.95/month. Digital Life platform is similar to Motorola Mobility’s 4 Home, presently implemented by Verizon, AT&T telecom opponent that had commenced to offer its Home Monitoring & Control solution powered by Motorola 4 Home at the price of $ 9.99/month last year.
According to Kevin Petersen, senior vice president, Digital Life, AT&T Mobility, the new business is focused on worldwide markets, not the US. It means that householders in Atlanta cannot profit from the Digital Life platform currently. Nevertheless, other folks at AT&T still promoted that besides the worldwide markets outside of the United States, the Digital Life platform can be also available for Atlanta home alarm monitoring service suppliers and suppliers all around United States. Despite of the countries or areas that will be counted into this new platform, we are glad to see that home automation industry has got an immense success.
