Darjeeling - The Best Place To Relax

For the Bengali community, Darjeeling is like a second home. It is not only easily accessible but it is exhilarating to get so close to the Himalayas in just a few hours. Tourism in Darjeeling has gone up so much over the years that the place has indeed become congested. But nothing can be compared to the beauty of the place. They people there are warm hearted as ever and will come back with memories to last you a lifetime.
Darjeeling is nestled in the Himalayas. Every year, throngs of tourists come here to catch the sight of the beautiful Kanchenjunga at sunrise. The city is well developed now, but parts of it have indeed become cramped. Yet the natural beauty of the place is almost intact. It is one of the best places to shop and roam around. The mall is wonderful for the evening trips with the family and restaurants like the Caventer’s are perfect for such family gatherings. There are ponies to give the children happy rides and quaint shops lining the roads serve hot momos and soups which are extremely delightful.
There are lots of places to see in Darjeeling as well. It was one of the top destinations of ...
... the British in the colonial period, after Shimla, where they used to spend the summers. Naturally there are churches and buildings which clearly have a very British church to their architecture. There is the St. Andrew’s Church, built in 1843. A little way off, you will come across the tea gardens. Darjeeling tea is renowned all over the world. The Happy Valley Tea Estate is a lovely place where you can watch the entire way of tea processing.
What is really enlightening to watch is the number of Buddhist monasteries here. If you want to spend some hours in the quiet, then nothing can be serene and peaceful than these monasteries. They still have their own rituals and teachings to follow, and knowing them is like a soothing balm on the sense.
Darjeeling tourism is very affordable. There is both high class as well as affordable guest houses. But it is always better to book the rooms in advance because there is extreme dearth during the peak seasons of the summers and the Durga Puja, during which the entire Bengal seems to have shifted to Darjeeling. So if you want to go for a quick holiday, Darjeeling is the best place to be in.
