With so many indie games and affordable game engines that have come out lately, it has become extremely commonplace to see games with little to no budget come out and make a statement. Many people today have more free time than they did before, and as a result, have found it helpful to use their creativity and talents to create something amazing. Getting a start can be rather difficult, but with some knowledge, it can be rather easy to get a good concept created that can be executed with the talents involved.

First off, it is important to create a core team that will decide together on how the game will be created and the directions it will take. It is always good to take ideas from others that will be involved, but the final decision should be made by the leaders. While this can be done by one single person, oftentimes, keeping others below that person can have an adverse effect on what will be done and what will not. If a team is used, it is important to have people that respect each other enough to make difficult decisions and come to a conclusion without having to fight or be nasty to each other in the process. ...
... Usually a good group of friends can do this, but they must be careful to not let the process break them apart.

The next thing to do is create a concept that is both interesting and deep for the player and fits the talents involved. If the team is missing a key component like graphics, then it is either good to find someone that can handle them or decide on a concept that works around the deficiency. For example: if the team does not have a sound artist for sound effects, then having access to a bank of sounds is important. If a graphic artist or animator is missing, then the game can revolve around monochromatic color schemes to appear artistic without being beyond the scope of what the team members are able to do.

Lastly, the team should draw up contracts once things get off the ground to make sure nothing goes crazy during the process. Usually for private projects, people will come in and drop out as things in their lives change. Also, there will be expenses involved that must be paid for. If the game has to connect to a server to operate, then a small cloud system should be purchased along with CloudTest performance testing software to ensure it does what it is supposed to no matter what. TouchTest™ mobile app testing software is also important to test mobile applications, and works best if the game is launched across multiple platforms.
