Nestled down off the beaten path, (or off highway 67 as you may know it)…..is Barnard’s Mill and Art Museum in Glen Rose, Texas. From humble beginnings as a water powered grist mill in 1860 to a steam powered burr mill; it sold for $10 and turned into a cotton gin in 1895, a health spa with mineral waters, then a hospital and clinic and today a Historical Mill and Art Museum.

The mill was established on the banks of the Paluxy River by Charles Barnard. The building stands three stories high and is made of hand hewn native stone. A tour of the three story Grist Mill and adjoining Art Museum lends a flavor to the history and essence of those pioneers who made this delightful valley their home.

Glen Rose is already such a quaint little easy going town, that it’s only fitting that there would be an attraction ...
