In order to become certified as a Project Manager, one has to go through a project management professional course or PMP. In many cases, persons qualified in other fields are assigned to be project managers where they gain some experience without formal training. The therefore take it upon themselves to get a PMP study guide to become more professional. Others aspire to be project managers in their respective establishments and therefore study PMP. A PMP study plan should be put in place to ensure getting a good score in the PMP exam. This involves collecting material like PMP test tips and PMP practice questions. The main criterion in a PMP exam is knowledge of the PMBOK guide and other best practices. It is therefore based on conventional tools, guidelines and ethics of Project Management.

PMP practice questions have keywords that help to understand ...
... what is being asked and refer back to PMBOK. Sometimes these keywords are swapped with their synonyms, so that is something to look out for. It should always be remembered that one does not have to know everything in order to pass the test. In fact, there are about 25 neutral questions that do not reflect on the final test score. These questions are mainly for diagnosis as the PMP test keeps on being refined.

The PMBOK itself is always being updated with the latest project management tools and techniques. There is a certain prioritization in PMP that should be recognized in order to pass the tests. The student becomes versed with the flow of the questions with each PMP test exam. Many PMP questions have more than one answer. For this scenario, tie breaking techniques can be used to identify the correct answers. The reliable way to do this is to choose answers about processes that occur early in a project’s lifecycle.

A second method of tie breaking is to select the answers that describe the most proactive measures. Having shortlisted all the plausible answers, it pays to go through once again to make sure that the answers adhere closely to the PMBOK. Going through the PMP practice exam starting with the easiest questions is the fastest way to get the job done. Skipping the difficult or lengthy questions at first will enable the student to keep a steady flow and beat the time allocated. The most difficult questions should be done last but they should never ever be left blank. The same idea may apply to the PMP study plan; it should start with the easier topics moving on to the lengthier ones.

Brain dump is a common technique used at the beginning of the PMP exam before answering questions. It can be rehearsed by doing a PMP practice exam so that the student will develop a method in readiness for the real thing. It must be emphasized that the brain dump should be from studying the PMBOK and not from one’s own experience. One of the PMP test tips is not to do certain things at the last minute. Arriving ahead of time to the exam room, acquainting oneself with the facility may help to avoid stress.
