There are some key attributes that distinguish a good mini lightbar. There are several different models which use different kinds of design aspects. For example, not all mini bars look the same or use the same design. There are mini lightbars for example, which comprise of couple of 4 LED modules. There are also mini bars that have couple of LED strobes instead whose output is maximized through the use of state of the art optics in the form of reflectors or diamond mirrors. For example, parabolic reflectors made of chrome plated aluminum can be used with the LEDs placed right at the center. Thus, one of the key attributes of the mini bars is the efficiency of the design to make the most of the available lighting source.

You can go for mini lightbars with 4-corner linear LED modules. An important attribute to be looked for in a mini lightbar is the use of special effects to make the most of the available lighting. This can be done in two different ways. One of them is to use dual unit mini bars with differently colored LEDs in each of those units. For example, you can have a mini bar with blue ...
... and red LEDs or blue and amber LEDs. There are also mini bars that come with split center segments that have multiple colored LEDs on each end. There are circular light heads used too, with split array arrangement of LEDs for maximum efficiency.

Another way of making mini lightbars very efficient is through built-in flash patterns. Modern mini bars from top manufacturers come with as many as 25 different flash patterns including some high luminosity ones like rapid bursts that can generate an impressive joule count. These flash patterns can enhance the visibility of the lighting to a great extent, not just in the dark but also when it is foggy, raining or very bright. A mini lightbar therefore doesn't need an external flasher thanks to the solid state electronics. Mini bars are lightweight but are designed well enough to resist heavy duty usage. To add to that, good mini bars come with a heavy duty professional warranty which is another attribute worth checking for.

In mini lightbars that have dual or more than 2 units, there should be an electronic module that can control the input from the battery to assure that the lighting intensity from individual units is constant and equal. Besides, it will help if it is possible to control the individual units and operate multiple flash patterns in each of them. Some mini bars come with optional alley lights and takedowns as well. You should make sure that the mini lightbar comes with clear outer lenses which are undetectable when the lights are not turned on. That way, you can use the mini bars for unmarked vehicles as well. Permanent and temporary magnetic mounting options are also critical for mini bars to turn out to be really useful when they are needed the most.
