The emergency dash light has become a very important fixture in emergency vehicles. These dash lights are particularly useful for the unmarked vehicles which are on covert operations because of their small size and effectiveness. The dash lighting equipment is quite portable and is usually designed for internal mounting close to the headliner or dash. These lights can be mounted close to the windshield or the window itself and have the accessories for mounting on all kinds of surfaces, flat and curved. The deck and dash lighting units are quite similar in that they come with couple of LED modules configured together with arrays of 4-Watt super bright LEDs.

Good dash lights are usually quite long measuring around 12 to 16 inches in length with 2 or sometimes even 3 LED modules. In some cases, each of these LED modules can be operated individually and have different colored LEDs offering greater number of permutations and combinations. What is important about the dash light units is that they come with at least a dozen built in flash patterns that enhance the visibility of the warning signal ...
... when really required. Besides, in most cases, you can actually connect mini bars, dash and deck lighting units and grille lights to flash in synchronization or in phase with each other to create a powerful warning signal in every direction.

dash light units are slim and hardly more than couple of inches thick. They can be mounted using suction cups where no holes need to be drilled in the body of the vehicle. They can also be mounted using swivel brackets or straps. The kit includes a 10 foot power cord and synchronization cord along with other accessories such as pigtail connectors, mounting clips, screws and bolts. A wide angle dome sometimes runs across the length of the dash lights ensuring that in spite of their smaller size they have a wider coverage. When mounted on the dash, these lights with combinations of blue, red or amber can flash and alert the approaching vehicles or pass on a warning signal to vehicles looking for such a signal. High quality units usually come with a no hassle warranty that takes care of the servicing, spare parts and maintenance in the first 2 – 5 years.

What makes dash lights so useful is the fact that they are very portable and lightweight and can be used across vehicles in a fleet. They make up for their smaller size through bright intensity LEDs which use TIR technology and offer maximum lighting output. Some units come with an attachable hood or flashback shield that prevents the flash patterns of the dash light from distracting those inside an emergency vehicle. The slim units are ideal for those smaller emergency vehicles where space is a major constraint. You can purchase these emergency lighting units at a low cost too, sometimes under $100 if there is a good discount available. A few of these are also designed for external mounting although most of them are for internal mounting.
