In today’s world, safety and security of your patients is more important over and above anything else. Many tools for different procedures, instruments, equipments, are sensitively designed to permit dentists to perform specific treatments, where it may come in direct contact with the blood stream of the patient. Therefore, such an instrument should be properly checked for its material quality, construction, disposability, etc. If used incorrectly, it may result in mishaps and accidental damages to the equipment, and/or even the dentist and the patient. Safety and quality are the highest concerns of all practicing dentists and consequently, they must check their equipment and instruments thoroughly.
Dentists use dental equipments or products methodically since each sequence of the process requires specific steps and rules to be followed. Dentists strictly heed this as non-adherence can void the warranty. Therefore, they also consider checking for availability of manuals, guides, online help as well as video tutorials if any, as provided by the reseller or the manufacturer of the dental products. Dentists essentially ...
... are treating various problems of all types of patients. Thus, they also ascertain and need to be sure that the products so used are the best quality dental products. Dental equipment also has seen the development and extensive utilisation of work area countertops, automatic chairs, and much more. Certain dentists’ consumables such as procedural marks, bibs for the patient, headrest covers, jackets, disposable cups, towels, sponges and more, disposable alternatives are also available and are need of the hour to prevent transfer of serious infections. Dentists must check for equipments that use high-pressure, high-temperature steam for disinfecting surgical and non-surgical instruments. However, reputed dentists using high quality products still prefer to personally verify them as such that it lasts for a longer period. Setting up a dentist’s office means calculating the space and the necessary equipment required while ascertaining that patients will have a comfortable experience.
Dentists use hand pieces that are not only complex but expensive and require careful maintenance. For these, they usually sign a regular maintenance program with certified and trained technicians. The staff of the dentist’s staff only takes care of routine cleaning, lubrication and sterilization. Servicing is done by the technician. The dental instrument supplier usually helps set this up. A large variety of complex electrical equipment is offered by dental instrument suppliers and these must be carefully maintained. Of these, the most critical is the dental unit used in surgery and this must be maintained by qualified technicians. Other electrical equipment that must be in top shape includes the radiology equipment where the chemicals must be checked and changed as and when required. A dentist’s practice relies on the quality and proper maintenance of the dental hand instruments, tools and equipment used, besides the dentist’s own skills. This not only assures the best patient care, but also enhances the dentist’s reputation. Although most hand instruments do not require special care besides sterilizing, there are certain surgical dental hand instruments that need more than just cleaning. Instruments like probes, chisels, excavators, hooks, carvers, and hand scales are used for precision work and must be sharp in order to perform the intricate work involved in surgery.
