The Luxor Museum of Mummification is one of the most important museums in the city. It was opened to general public in May 1977. It was first ever museum in the country with a focus on the subject of mummies. Luxor Temple was built from sandstone taken from Gebel el-Silsila, the area located in the southwestern part of the country. Experts have found that earliest remains of the temple belong to Dynasty XIII. Unlike other temples, Luxor Temple does not face the River Nile. List of temples in Luxor is incomplete without Karnak Temple. This is one of the most spectacular temples in the city. It is located by the Nile River. In other words, while visiting the temple, you can feel the freshness of the breeze of the river.

History lovers never ignore this temple while planning holidays to Luxor. This temple was the home of Amun Ra during Dynasty XII. This is not a temple rather a complex with three temples in addition to pylons and other smaller chapels. While strolling around the temple, you would come across Precinct of Mut, Precinct of Montu, Precinct of Amun-Re and Temple of Amenhotep.
