The One And Only Home Show Celebrated A 64 Year Tradition
The original Kansas City Home Show returned to Bartle Hall, March 23- 25. This Kansas City tradition for more than sixty years together with the Flower, Lawn and Garden Show showcased new opportunities and choices for homeowners to get a jump on spring home and garden projects. This home builders event was presented by the Home Builders Association of Greater Kansas City, sponsored by MattressFIRM and in partnership with Ferguson, KC Parks & Recreation, Harvesters Community Food Network, Hen House, Spaces Magazine and McCray Lumber & Millwork.
Bartle Hall was teeming with new home products and services, decorating, design and building demonstrations, the latest remodeling ideas, premier landscaping and special attractions such as:
• HGTV Star Monica Pedersen was this year’s headline speaker on the Home Show Stage. Described by the NY Times as the “radiant, high-energy mistress of ceremonies” at the recent Kitchen & Bath Industry show, Monica is a favorite on HGTV’s Designed to Sell, Bang for your Buck, Showdown and Dream Home.
• Architect and innovator Sarah Susanka was a featured ...
... speaker presenting her powerful "Not So Big" message that has become a launch pad for a new model of understanding how we inhabit our homes, our day-to-day lives, and, moreover, how we inhabit our planet. Susanka has authored nine best-selling books including The Not So Big House, The Not So Big Life, Not So Big Remodeling, and most recently, More Not So Big Solutions for Your Home.
• A Garden House was built on site by a stellar team of HBA member businesses and after the show it was donated to and reconstructed on the grounds of the Drumm Farm for children.
• Ferguson gave away an $8,000 Electrolux Appliance Package and Direct Buy gave away a 73” HD television.
• Spaces Magazine gave away 500 one-year subscriptions to lucky audience members at the Home Show Stage sponsored by Spaces.
• Sports Radio 810 kept March Madness going at the Home Show when Soren Petro broadcasted his show live from the HBA Construction Zone.
• Harvesters received donations of food and funds to provide 10,535 meals.
• Kansas City, Missouri Parks & Recreation Department and area landscapers created magnificent gardens with colorful flowers and plants, waterfalls, babbling brooks, trees, lush greenery, and stone.
Plans now are underway for this year’s Home Show-Fall Edition to be held on September 14-16, 2012. The Overland Park Convention Center will be packed with great ideas, exhibits and the experts of home improvement for the seasonal change to autumn.
