Science fiction video games are some of the most creative and fun out there, especially when you get to play space battles. When it comes to making games that take place in the realms of deep, unexplored space, designers have literally infinite creative license to make whatever they want as long as it feels believable. Of course, some designers feel that they have more freedom when they are working in the world of science fiction and can use all kinds of made up places and characters to transport the player to an entirely new world. There are many technical difficulties, for sure, when it comes to designing a realistic space battle that will convince the player that they are really have a deep space shootout.

There are lots of unique space vehicles you can use sin distinct space battles throughout the genre of science fiction games. The goal of real time strategy games, for instance, is to permit you to build a fleet full of many different vehicles that each has its own specific use. There is a considerable quantity of skill needed to properly take advantage of all the different elements in these strategy games, ...
... but you can develop those skills as you play. Traditionally, strategy games depend on overhead views that allow you to see all of your fleet's ships and spacecraft in one large view.

Space battles are viewed and handled quite differently in first person shooter games where you are directly in front of the action. You do not watch as a third person from above, but rather as if you were in the middle of the skirmish, trying to contend with the laser beams and bombs being sent around you. Skilled gamers are often loyal supporters of first person games that allow them to take the control of the ships and weapons they are using to wage war in space; instead of watching someone else do the fighting, the gamer does it themselves.

There is an entirely different type of challenge involved in video games that make you play against other people instead of just against the game's artificial intelligence. Massively multiplayer online games allow you to link with people around the world as you play, thus adding a very interesting element to your game.

Gamers at all different skill levels can enjoy the thrill and visual excitement of space battles in games set in science fiction worlds. Whether you like a strategy game, a first person shooter, or an online game, you are sure to feel proud when you achieve victory.
