If you need to get advanced warning of a machine breakdown, vibration analysis can offer months of time to learn about problems before they occur. Vibrational testing allows companies to keep up with proper maintenance of their equipment while also monitoring for gradual wearing down of parts. Vibration monitoring, analysis and the monitoring of acoustical emissions are all three unique ways the technicians have of monitoring machinery. These different methods work in different ways to warn of an impending breakdown and this gives companies a chance to begin the process of on-site and off-site testing.

The first method is vibration monitoring, which is the process of regularly monitoring the vibrations emitted from working machines. When that frequency starts changing, this alerts the business that it needs to pay close attention to that piece of equipment. When a machine is in use, technicians compare its vibrations to the standards set up in ISO 10816 to ensure the vibrations are normal. Employees rely on vibration monitoring to ensure that their equipment is running properly by comparing its vibrations to industry ...
... standards.

Vibration analysis is the practice of using
sensor equipment to listen to the deviant frequency emitted by a machine and analyze it to determine what sort of defect is causing that particular frequency. The sensor will record the vibration, translate it into the frequency range and compare that frequency to the previously recorded frequencies emitted by machines with known defects. Analyzing vibrations is a job best left to a trained professional, someone with an understanding of the technique and the common problems associated with your machinery. Technicians will need to pay close attention to frequencies and rule out any false leads that sound blips may create. Sensors must be properly attached to the equipment, technicians will need to sort out the vibration from surrounding noise and interpret the results correctly.

Workers will then listen for cracks or holes in the system with condition monitoring of acoustical emissions. This procedure monitors the energy release from an impact or stress on the machine. Workers only listen to the machine during a regular maintenance schedule or when they already know that there is a potential problem. Workers will generally listen for frequency pops or spikes that can indicate the problem. Employing a trained technician is the best way to diagnose what these spikes mean.

Using these three types of vibrational monitoring methods helps companies maintain their machines. Even using two of these methods, companies can find out precisely what is wrong with their equipment. There's no reason not to utilize these methods to help reduce costs and prevent breakdowns.
Now you can be at peace as you know that there is a lot of information available at vibration analysis and don't forget to also check condition monitoring. We would like to thank Franco E. Hosler for the help on finishing this article.
