Remy Human Hair Extensions Vs Non-remy And Synthetic Extensions
The world is extensions crazy at the moment! All celebrities use them, for added volume or length, in between films, for a new look, for a quick fringe, whatever quick change, extensions are the way forward. Achieving styles or instant new looks is impossible without the use of extensions.
At the moment are clip in extensions are a real fave of mine, I am recommending them to all of my clients. They are incredible for adding versatility to your look, allowing for a longer look in the evening, and making the most of waves or ponytails, which are bang on trend.
Those looking to buy hair extensions at the moment should avoid the massive influx of cheap hair extensions. Anything that offers a full head for under £40-50 will either made of very cheap, poor quality hair, or synthetic fibres.
First of all, I will start with cheap hair. Cheap hair will be from areas where the donors have a poor diet, they will not be silky smooth, soft and shiny for long, if at all. If they are when they are new, then that will be because the manufacturing process has added oils to the hair, which will wear off, leaving the hair ...
... dry, and make it difficult when colouring. Cheap hair is that it is not going to be ethically sourced, and that should be a consideration everyone has. Do you want to pay for hair that was unfairly acquired? I won’t go into it here, but Google unethical hair sourcing and there are some truly horrible stories. The final reason I discourage people from buying cheap hair is that it won’t last, it won’t be Remy (the cuticles aligned so it doesn’t matt or knot), and it won’t last very long.
Synthetic hair is acceptable, if you understand exactly what you are getting. Normally, it is pre-styled and can look alright, but that’s where it ends. It has a plastic texture! The pricier fibres can be heat styled, which means you can style them, but it still doesn’t feel like real hair, which can be awful when you will also feel it around your neck and shoulders. Heat style-able fibres… for about £60 you can get a full head of synthetic fibres, which can be heat styled up to 150c. Remember not to put high-heat ceramic plates on them or they will melt! Only use heat adjustable straighteners. The last issue is that synthetic extensions can never be coloured, so you might struggle to get a perfect match. So as long as you know you can’t colour, or use high heat, and accept that they won’t feel like lovely, soft hair, then synthetics can be OK, but given that you have to spend £50-60 on them if you want to heat style, you may as well spend a little more and get some human hair extensions.
My recommendations…
Buy 100% Remy Human Hair. You can treat it like your own hair. Be kind and it will last a year or two! Heat style it (with protection spray/serum to help keep it in good condition), use products, mousse, sea salt spray, hair spray, etc., and colour it too.
Where to buy…
This one is simple, You Too Hair offer a range of colours and have some of the best hair available online, at a very good price. Some extensions cost as much as £500 for clip-ins! You Too have used and abused their extensions before launching for 18 months by using too much product, not washing them, using too much heat, for too long and with no heat protection products. So they are very confident in their products.
From my experience, their hair is very soft, thick and blends with everyone’s hair I have personally recommended them too. The best reason I recommend them is that they offer a 7 day money back guarantee. You can get that perfect colour match and be happy with your order, or send them back. They offer some of the best customer support and help people get colour matches, if they send in photos.
I also trust this brand as they are available in some Toni & Guy Salons in the UK. You can pop into a stockist (if one is near you) and feel how fab they are and get that colour match without having to wait. If you can’t though, give them a try and if you don’t like them, send them back
I hope this article has helped people understand a bit more about hair extensions, and what type of hair you should buy. If you are new to extensions, or are looking for a trustworthy company, give You Too a go. Google You Too Hair Extensions Review for what other people think. They also ship worldwide. There are other good companies out there, but this is my experience as a hair professional.
