I didn't ever consider taking iron supplements, but when I was feeling exhausted all the time, I learned that it was because of a deficiency of iron in my bloodstream. I don't know about you, but I've always thought of iron as something that you make swords or fences out of. I had heard of iron in the bloodstream, but I had no idea about why it was necessary for the body.

Well, my husband and I were going to start trying for a baby and I decided that I should get into shape before I got pregnant so that I could burn a little fat off before I started getting bigger. It was vain, I know, but exercise is a good idea anyway, particularly if I wanted to have the energy to bear and raise a child. After around a week of running and working out consistently, instead of feeling more energized, I felt even more tired.

It wasn't the right kind of tired that you feel after a thorough workout. It made me feel wholly exhausted and I had no energy to do even the most routine things anymore. This did not bode well, so my husband advised me to go pay a visit to our family doctor so we could see if there were any problems ...
... that might affect my eventual pregnancy.

The doctor ran a few simple tests and quickly discovered that the only thing wrong was that my iron levels were low, and he told me that I ought to take some iron supplements. I instantly agreed to take them when he told me some of the things that can happen with the baby during pregnancy if the mother has low iron, such as developmental disorders and issues with brain growth. I really want my baby to be as healthy as possible, so I was worried about my low iron levels.

My doctor also told me that I should begin taking prenatal vitamins now, because they can be helpful well before pregnancy and many of them also contain iron, which would help bolster the other supplements I would be taking. I followed my doctors orders, and noticed a huge difference right away, when would work out I didn't feel so totally exhausted afterwards. Pretty soon, after just a month or two of trying, my husband and I were ecstatic to learn that I was pregnant. I was really happy with the news, and I felt a lot of comfort in knowing that I was taking the appropriate pills that would help the baby grow and develop well.
There is much to understand on this matter so please visit iron supplements and try also prenatal vitamins. . Special greetings to Elena M. Lockwoods for all the help in the fulfillment of this Article.
