The Family Summer Escapade In Courchevel

Your children are veritably strange creatures. During winter, they wanted to visit the southern states and the beach resorts that face the sultry Caribbean Sea. At first, this need for a vacation is comprehensible because the cold winter days can be quite monotonous. Surfing and parasailing always win against snow blizzards. The warm tropical climate of the islands surrounding the Caribbean is the major reason why the family went on a vacation. But this summer, they wanted to go north and see the Alps. Summer has turned blisteringly hot and the children missed the ice and snow. They wanted nothing less than going to Courchevel and seeing the Trois Vallées, the most famous and largest ski area in the whole world. Your youngest child pointed out that the "Trois Vallées" means "three valleys."
Apparently, your children know too much about geography and missed some lessons in climatology. In summer, temperatures go up and the ice glaciers recede. There wouldn't be much icy slopes left for skiing. So you put your foot down and firmly told your children that if they wanted to go to a wintry place during summer, they ...
... might as well head off to the North Pole. Your fateful words were these: summer in Courchevel France is much like summer in other country. That was when your wife gave a fake cough and cleared her throat. Ah, sweetheart, there is such a thing as summer skiing in Courchevel. The faces of your children were beaming. They were anticipating your surrender.
Perfect skiing year-round at Courchevel France
Seconds after your arrival in Courchevel France, you were glad that you surrendered. You immediately realized that the whole town is a ski resort suited for all kinds of travelers, such as extreme adventurers, nature lovers, romantic couples, and families like yours. The locals are friendly and there are numerous Courchevel hotels that offer luxurious accommodations. As always, you were tempted to stay in a four-star hotel because of the excellence in amenities and the quality of service. But you learned that the same impeccable service can also be obtained in other types of Courchevel hotels. Solo travelers usually go to the residences to meet new friends. But you figured that comfort is the most important goal in choosing accommodations for your family. Thus, you ended up in one of the "Chalets Grand Confort," which means a comfortable country cottage. Like all Courchevel hotels, your chalet has a swimming pool and near a fun park.
Great slopes conditions for all types of skiers
Since skiing seems to be the order of each day of your vacation, you set out to find out more about skiing in this region of Trois Vallées. Luckily, it was easy to learn about the various ski areas. The experienced skiers chose the areas that have been labeled as "red runs" and "black runs." The novices who are still learning about skiing can go to the "green runs" and the "blue runs." And the impressive part is that there are themed areas where you can take your children, such as the ZEN (zones exclusively for beginners) and the Indians piste, where there is a chief of a tribe that leads new skiers around the tepee village in a hunt for treasure. "Piste" is the charming French word for marked ski trails.
Summer skiing, however, is a bit of a challenge for skiers. Serious skiers have to go to the Glacier de Péclet for thrilling slopes. The new skiers have to visit the Bellecote glacier at La Plagne, which can be reached through the Champagny en Vanoise from Courchevel, France. There is also the left part of the Grande Motte, a favorite area for summer skiing.
Combining skiing with the French life
Armed with an almost encyclopedic knowledge of summer skiing in Courchevel, you asked your children if they wanted to start off their summer escapade at one of the themed areas. They were more interested in exploring the Vanoise National Park. They wanted to live an authentic French life - the après ski. And they wanted to catch salmon and rainbow trout from the Lac du Praz. Your youngest informed you that it is located near the famous Olympic ski jump and it is the most accessible lake in Courchevel. Grinning, you answered: Excellent, I am good at fishing.
