Tourist Guide To Calpe - Costa Blanca (spain)

Calpe is a beautiful resort city which is located in the region of Costa Blanca and has many attractions for visitors including very fine and sandy beaches, excellent restaurants and the famous big Penon de Ifach rock. Calpe is located at a strategically important site and this is the reason behind its multi-colored history. The city was first inhabited by the Iberians but the Romans first developed the colonies and the economical foundations of the town with the production of dry fish. You will find many buildings in the city which have good defensive infrastructure and these were all constructed between the 14th and 17th centuries to help protect the town from pirates.

The Old Town of Calpe has many interesting historical sites including the famous church which was built here in the 15th century over the site of an original Muslim fort and this church still has some of those parts preserved. You will also find some great artistic works on the wood used in the church which are believed to have links with the 15th century.

The Archeology Museum in the Old Town is another attraction for the visitor. It is situated ...
... near the old Roman fishing site and you will find many local artifacts in the museum. The Festival Museum is also located in the Old Town and has preserved some ancient costumes used in the festivals held here in bygone days, as the city is known for its big festival in September each year.

Penon de Ifach is a big rock with a height of one thousand feet and it dominates the whole town and is considered to be among the best tourist attractions in the region of Costa Blanca. Climbing to the top of the rock is possible and from there you can have amazing views of the port and of Calpe town. This part of Calpe is a natural reserve for birds and you will find many unique species of birds in the area like falcons and ravens.

The coast line of Calpe ferienwohnung spanien is six miles long and has some very good sandy beaches and coves of white sand and there are amazing cliffs as well. These beaches are very popular among visitors for the quality of services and the ambiance like Playa Arenal Bol, which is marked with a Blue Flag by the European Union.
