Farrah Fawcett: cancer and the facts:
Best known for her role as one of Charlie’s Angels in the original 1970s TV show, Farrah Fawcett was first diagnosed with anal cancer in 2006, and began treatment including chemotherapy and surgery. Unfortunately the cancer spread to her liver and, after battling the disease for three years, she sadly died in 2009 at the young age of 62.
Cancer strikes without discrimination and regardless to fame, fortune or even age. Cancer is the cause of more than a third (36%) of all deaths in those aged under 65, according to Cancer Research UK. In the same report, it was also revealed that a staggering 1 in 3 people in the UK are directly affected by caner.

Jade Goody: raising awareness
Jade Goody, made famous after appearing in the reality show Big Brother, was diagnosed with ‘advanced and life-threatening’ cervical cancer in August 2008 at just 28 years old. Jade’s well documented fight against cervical cancer helped to fuel a huge surge in UK women demanding cervical screenings – reversing a decade-long decline. Sadly though, she lost her battle with cancer in March 2009, leaving behind her husband and two children.
Unfortunately Cancer is a very real concern for so many people – Cancer Research UK recently reported that a devastating 1 in 3 people are directly affected by cancer, with over 5,000 people diagnosed every week.
Given these figures, it’s important to plan for the future. Private Health Insuranceputs your mind at rest in the knowledge that, should you need it, not only will your medical bills be taken care of, but you’ll also have the access the NHS can’t always offer to such things as:
