Maharashtra Tourism - The Deccan Odyssey
Unique to Maharashtra tourism is the Deccan Odyssey, a rail tour though the state, highlighting heritage sites and making for the experience of a lifetime. Combining temples, caves, beaches and famous cities like Goa, Mumbai and Aurangabad, one can have a complete package tour with the Deccan Odyssey.
For 7 nights and 8 days, one can journey through the kingdom of the Marathas, thanks to this joint venture luxury project between the Government of Maharashtra, the Government of India and the Ministry of Railway. On board this luxury train, travellers have access to a health spa, channel music, music players, credit card facilities and conference arrangements. With floors carpeted from wall to wall, tourists can sink into the lap of luxury while exploring beaches, pilgrimage sites and busy cities, all in one go.
The Deccan Odyssey offers tourists the facility of booking tickets online and also to request customized tour packages for 3 or 4 nights instead of the customary 7.
While the main tour between places is conducted on the luxury train, the tour package also incorporates travel by air-conditioned buses ...
... to areas away from the railroad. Beginning at the Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus in Mumbai, the tour takes you through Sindhudurg, the fort, Tarkali Beach resort, Goa, Mangeshi temple, Kolhapur city, the Daulatabad fort, the famous Ajanta caves, and also the venue of the Kumbh Mela - Panchwati Ghat. The sheer gamut of travel experience delivered by this tour package, not focusing only on one aspect of travel, like beaches or hills or caves, is what makes it unique and enjoyable for all.
Accommodation consists of fully air-conditioned Presidential Suites and saloons. Each of the 10 saloons have attached bathrooms and all conveniences like carpeted floors, music players, attached toilets, running water and showers. Special attendants are available for the physically challenged. Luggage is delivered to one’s reserved saloon and arrival kits are also placed there for the guidance of the traveller. The on-board bar is equipped with premium spirits and wines for connoisseurs. Doctors are available on call at the succeeding station and first-aid kits are available on-board.
With basic toiletries like soap, moisturizer and shampoo being provided for and all meals being included in the package, all one needs to arrange is their clothing and the tour package provides for everything else. For a smooth, hassle-free and all-encompassing relaxed holiday, the Deccan Odyssey has few parallels. Being one of the luxurious Maharashtra tour packages, it gives you a complete overview of Maharashtra, while detailing places to see for the discerning traveller.
