Ford Figo Continues To Get Public Attention
Ford Figo, one of the most popular compact hatchbacks in the Indian market, has completed its two years in the Indian market. Following its low profile launch in February 2010, the sales of Ford Figo saw a drastic growth in the Indian market in quick succession. Besides India, the car has also been receiving good acceptance in the overseas markets, where company exports this car after manufacturing it in its Chennai based facility.
It is to be mentioned here that the Ford Figo is the only compact hatchback model in the Indian market that has managed to pose a threat to the supremacy of the segment leader Maruti Swift. Within a year of its launch in the Indian market, the company had managed to sell over 1 lakh units of this car. The company has shelved the car in the compact hatchback segment with a competitive price range of Rs 3.8 lakh to Rs 5.9 lakh (ex showroom price).
Coming to the engine segment, the Ford Figo model is currently available in both petrol and diesel versions in the Indian market. The petrol version of the car is highly fuel efficient and is powered by a 1.2L petrol power train that is capable ...
... of delivering a peak power of 71 PS along with a peak torque of 102 Nm. The Ford Figo petrol variant delivers a mileage of up to 15.5 km per liter.
On the other hand, the diesel version, which is driving higher volumes as compared to the petrol version of the car, comes powered by a 1.4L diesel engine which is capable of outpouring a peak output of 69PS along with a peak torque of 160 Nm. The USP of this variant is its considerably higher fuel economy of up to 18.5 km per liter.
Both petrol and diesel variants of the car are compatible with the BS-IV emission norms and are incorporated with a five speed manual transmission. The superb pick-up and acceleration of the car makes it a best performer in its segment, with taking just 15.5 seconds and 16 seconds to break the speed barrier of 100 km per liter in petrol and diesel variants, respectively.
In an attempt to offer a wide range of variant options to the Indian buyers, the company has offered the car in 10 variants including five each in petrol and diesel versions (named as Figo Lxi, Figo Exi, Figo Exi optional, Figo Zxi and Figo Titanium). The top end variant of the car is fully equipped with a range of advanced technological comfort, convenience, entertainment and safety features including ABS (Anti-lock Braking System) with EBD (Electronic Brake-Force Distribution), Engine Immobilizer, Phone Interface through Bluetooth, and many more.
