If your pet is going to be flying, place your pet at least a couple of days before his departure date in the crate he will be traveling in for a few hours and put him in a car to help him associate being calm when traveling in a crate.

If your pet becomes nervous on his travel day, rub lavender oil on the paws. This tends to have a calming effect.

If considering sedation while your pet is in route, take your animal on a long walk before leaving since this is the best and most natural type of sedation.

Most hotels require that pets are not left alone in a room. Therefore when you head out for dinner, plan on taking your pet with you.

When driving a rental car with a pet do your best to keep your pet in one area of the car. Thoroughly clean hair and any pet messes prior to returning your rental to avoid cleaning fees.
