New Hyundai i20 is round the corner and is expected to be launched in mid April, 2012. The mid career facelift model is creating much abuzz in the industry following the features and looks the new i20 has. The new version of car was unveiled at the Geneva Motor show and it seems that the new avatar has not inherited Fluidic nature in toto. The interior have received minimal changes and the engine configuration for India is expected to remain the same. Meanwhile, there are reports Hyundai is also working on a new generation i20 hatch that will be launched in a couple of years. Now that this hot selling car is almost three years old in India, it needed a serious makeover and Hyundai seems to be giving it the right treatment soon.
It is expected that the next generation i20 could also take on a sedan body styling and will then be competing with Toyota Etios and new Maruti Swift Dzire in India. On the lines of the compact sedan craze in India that is always a win-win situation both for the car makers as well as for the car buyer as the price is kept down due to under four meter length and get a sedan at just over the price of a small car. Thus Hyundai i20 based sedan is more than true. Also, since Maruti and Tata already have their cars in this segment, Hyundai will also try its hand in this segment before Mahindra could bring in the Mahindra Verito compact sedan this Diwali.
Experts believe that the i20 compact sedan will be an instant hit in the country as the i20 hatch has already made a strong appearance and the brand is quite old and has attained full trust of the Indians. Besides, people are now familiar with the Korean comfort and drive ease as is also evident by the Hyundai Verna sales in the country.
