There are several kinds of Boston Piano. Three upright models, that come in different sizes and five different sizes of grand piano. In the late 80s, the company took a fresh look at their range and realised that they wanted to reach those musicians who were good, but not quite ready to play a real Steinway. They dreamt of giving every piano player the chance to experience the magic of playing a Steinway piano.

The piano they came up with was the Boston Piano, which they launched in 1992. The decision to use Kawai to manufacture them was a stroke of genius. Kawai already made exceptional instruments, but had access to new technology, which meant that the cost of the Boston Piano could be kept relatively low.
