Today’s parents find themselves increasingly busy in their careers. It is, therefore, becoming increasingly difficult for parents to spend time with their children and to help them with their schoolwork. This trend is slowly affecting their academic performance, hence the need for private tutors. These are simply individuals who offer extra coaching to pupils in a bid to improve the pupil's performance in a particular field, more commonly in academic subjects.

The practice of private tuition is proving to be popular since it ensures one on one coaching between the personal tutor and the pupil. With this kind of attention, concepts that may not have been understood in a larger class setting will become clearer. Private tutors are normally educated to a much higher level than their pupils, sometimes even up to PhD levels of education. However, even high school graduates can offer private tuition as long ...
... they have mastered their content well.

In some cases, university students looking for extra cash who are good in one or more subjects can offer tutoring services as part time student jobs. It is common to find intelligent students with these student jobs where they offer tutoring lessons for various purposes, such as passing an examination or simply understanding a particular subject in much greater detail. The most common subject where a larger number of pupils require extra coaching is mathematics. It is therefore common to hear of maths tutors, who exclusively offer extra coaching in solely mathematics.

It may have been in the past that private tutors were viewed as individuals who were simply out to look for extra money without giving care to the academic improvement of their pupils. This allegation has been made especially against students in need of money and thus look for student jobs in tutoring.

While their main reason for seeking this job may have been motivated by monetary rewards, one should look at the end result that has been achieved by private tutors. If there is an improvement in performance posted by private tutors, it is clear that these part time student jobs offer the answer to parents looking for tutors. Studies have shown that weaker pupils respond much better to their peers since they feel more at ease to express themselves thus enhancing the learning process.

We should therefore change our attitudes toward students who undertake these student jobs since they improve the academic performance of their pupils. This presents in itself a win-win situation for the two parties involved. If you are an individual seeking to transfer knowledge or a student looking for student jobs, consider tutoring. It is a fast and noble way of earning a decent living.
