In an instant the majority of people out there take a quick glance at one another and coming up with snap judgments that more or less tell us all we need to know about somebody else even though as the saying goes, don't judge a book by its cover, but if we know better or otherwise. Your subconscious is doing it all the while, even if you don't admit it or realize it, with everybody and everything you come into contact with each day; it might not be the best thing to do, but it is human nature.

Our standards are high, even if we don't quite see it that way; judging and comparing individuals to these expectations at all times, particularly in a world where every single thing we interact with in real life is based on what we see on television. You are still seeing individuals dressed in nice clothes, with sculpted hair and white glistening teeth, even if you see anything as basic as the news, and because of this, it elevates the expectations of what we consider as acceptable and appropriate in the eyes of the masses.

In some situations it does push us to be better, to put our best foot forward, and to put effort into ...
... looking our best for other people, even if they may be perfect strangers, just because subconsciously, we understand what our own expectations are, and we project them on the people that surround us all though it's not entirely a terrible thing. That is why people even turn to cosmetic means to improve their look in some situations, not just for themselves, but to make an acceptable image for the world around them to view, and to provide them value.

Whether you have thought about dying your hair, or researched Sherman Oaks teeth whitening, we all battle with our own self-image, but it isn't actually a bad thing, and we do it in order to conform, and to warrant acceptance from the people around us. All of us seek the perfect smile or the shiniest , fullest head of hair, and to some that's more valuable than almost anything else out there, but it also makes them satisfied to know that all of the time they put into their look doesn't go unnoticed.

If you understand it or not, all of us wear a mask, but the world is a popularity contest, and in order to get ahead, you do what you must, and in some cases that means committing some extra effort into your appearance, but it's worth it in the end.
