Every time that you connect your PC to the Internet, you leave sensitive personal information on the net. Your IP address which is like your online Identification number can tell not just where you are located but also help anyone trace all your online activities and access the information that you exchange via Internet. This is how hackers and intruders get information about you and play with your crucial personal details.

They can steal your credit card numbers, steal your banking information, read your messages, leave viruses on your PC and delete important files. With so much at stake, you certainly don't want to be attacked by a hacker. Here are some ways in which you can protect your system from hackers and intruders.

1. Make sure that your anti-virus protection is always on and upgraded with the latest updates.
2. Do not open any mail whose sender you do not know or not trust. Most of the viruses are sent via mails. Hackers and intruders keep sending such mails to people.
3. Keep changing your passwords and make sure that the passwords that you keep are hard to guess. Keep in mind that your ...
... passwords are not to be given to anyone.
4. Make use of firewalls to keep away intruders. Firewalls filter and block suspicious data while allowing good data to be transmitted. They create a wall between your system and the outside world. Also make sure that your firewall is updated and always on.
5. Do not allow strangers to use your PC. They may not be trustworthy.
6. Always remember to disconnect your Internet connection when not in use. This will reduce chances of anyone accessing your computer.
7. Download security updates on a regular basis and scan your computer for viruses and malwares as often as possible.
8. Keep a backup of all the files and data in your computer lest a catastrophe should destroy all your valuable data. Be prepared for the worst. Also keep back ups for important software.

By keeping these simple things in mind you can stay safe and protected.
