Your Internet Protocol Address is a sort of identification number on the Internet. The Internet is a complex web of networks. An IP address helps one device to connect to another on the net. This IP address can also be used to locate the real address a computer and its user. It can also be used to keep track of all the Internet activities of the user. IP addresses are a useful thing but they can be misused to violate your privacy. Even an email send by you can be used to track your IP address and therefore track all your activities and location. If you are worried about your privacy and security then you must be thinking about how to hide your IP address.

The easiest way to hide your IP address is to make use of a proxy server. When you surf the net, your server gets to know all about your online activities, the information exchanged and the sites visited. By tracking your server and your IP address anyone can find out sensitive information about you. When you use a proxy server, you surf the net through that proxy server. This helps you to hide your real identity. Your computer cannot be located on the Internet thereby ...
... providing you a lot of privacy.

Proxy servers are easily available on the Internet. There are free ones as well as paid ones. The free ones aren't much reliable. If you want a proxy server for experimental or temporary purposes then you can download it from the net for free. Free proxy servers have very slow speed and they can also shut down without any notification. If you want real security go for the paid ones as they guarantee you reliable service.

A proxy server has a small bandwidth and traffic limit. Due to this you may not be able to exchange heavy data via your proxy server. Many servers also do not let you hide your IP address so you may not be able to access these servers via your proxy server. But for this only flip side, proxy servers are a good way to hide your IP address.
