If you are looking for excellent folding knives for use outdoors while climbing, camping or fishing, look no further than the reliable and enduring Spyderco knives. This brand of high-quality cutting tools was established in the late 1970s and they have since become synonymous with innovations in the knife industry. Innovations like their ergonomic designs have been build-in after scrupulous research and development and the knives are constantly subjected to arduous tests to make sure they meet high standards.

Although, it is possible to find a wide range of these knives crafted for various purposes, this brand is most renowned for their folding knives. Spyderco knives have a trademark round hole in the blade that makes the knife quick and easy to open and operate using just one hand. The brand was also the first to introduce the feature of a pocket clip on many of their knife items such as folding knives. They are constantly evolving their products to make more improvements in design and operation such as two new patented locking mechanisms.

Depending on the purpose of the knife, you can select from a ...
... choice of plain edge blades, a partially serrated edge or a fully serrated edge also known as the 'Spyder' edge. A number of different blade steels and handle material choices are also offered. The most prevalent Spyderco knives feature a Fiberglass Reinforced Nylon (FRN) handle and can be chosen from many styles, edges, colors and weights.

Spyderco knives are legendary for their tactical and survival knives including training and rescue knives that are popular among law enforcement officers, fire and rescue personal, self-defense instructors as well as private citizens. 'Salt' is their special line of water-friendly knives that are made of 100% rust free H-Steel and can be used for fishing and other activities in and around water. Their line of 'Byrd' knives have been specially designed and imported as a economical substitute to their regular folding knives. All these long-lasting knives are warranted against any possible defects in workmanship and materials. Like all knives, it is suggested that these knives should be carefully maintained by making sure that they are clean, dry, sharpened and well lubricated.

Another multi-purpose and trendy brand of knives are the CRKT knives (Columbia River Knife and Tool) which can also be used for many activities such as climbing, hiking, camping, hunting, fishing and survival.
