Last year in December I made the decision to get each member of my family a different item of clothing made from luxury cashmere to keep them warm during the winter months. We live near the Black Mountains on the border between Wales and England but I was planning a trip to London anyway to get a particular fender electric guitar that I had seen off the Charing Cross Road when I had visited the city a few months previously. I had already called the shop and was planning to catch a train on the second weekend of the month and so decided to get my family their cashmere knitwear simultaneously.

Upon my arrival at Charing Cross Station I decided to locate the cashmere first as I didn’t want to lug the guitar around the city having purchased it while searching for afore-mentioned knitwear, so I hopped on the tube and headed for German Street as I had been informed by the mother of my best friend that this was the place to begin my search. Sure enough, when I got there I found a number of retailers stocking high end cashmere and so purchased my father a cashmere sweater, my mother a cashmere cardigan ...
... my brother a cashmere scarf and my sister a cashmere v-neck sweater. The sales assistant was also an exceptionally attractive brunette who I managed to persuade to give me a discount of twenty per cent because I was buying a number of items, as well as her phone number.

I then headed back towards the station as the guitar shop was on the way. I decided not to get the tube as it was such a lovely day and instead hired one of the bicycles that you can pick up and drop off at different points in the city. It is a scheme that was started recently by the Greater London Authority and emulates a similar service in Hong Kong. I would certainly recommend it – the bike wasn’t too bad and the price was very cheap. I got my guitar, my family loved their presents and I have now moved to London to live with the sales assistant from the cashmere store on German Street and joined a rock and roll band.
